Donating To One in Four

We have been contacted by a number of people asking how they can make a donation to support One in Four and the ways that they can. This page aims to explain to you why we will be relying on donations and support this year and what we will be using the money for.

Why Donate?

One in Four is a National Charity which supports women and men who have experienced sexual violence either as children or as adults. The organisation’s Psychotherapy Programme provides individual, couple and group psychotherapy to those impacted upon by sexual violence. We currently deliver over 7,000 sessions of individual therapy and 3,500 hours of group therapy annually.

As well as offering therapeutic support, we also offer a dynamic advocacy service that works to meet individual need. Our Advocacy programme supports approximately 1,000 women and men annually, working to meet practical support needs around issues such as child protection, criminal and civil legal processes, education, housing etc. Beyond this direct support work, One in Four engages with Government and other agencies to work towards greater awareness and improved responses to the phenomena of sexual violence. One in Four receives Government grants to assist in its work but some 50% of funding for the services must be raised through fundraising and donations. If you can help by making a regular or a once-off donation please do; your help will be greatly appreciated.

What Exactly Will Your Donation Be Used For?

To provide therapeutic services and support to men and women who have experienced sexual abuse and/or sexual violence. One In Four Ireland will also continue/actively engage in a programme of research, advocacy and lobbying. This year we will be using the majority of the money raised to fund the Therapy Programme.

Accountability

One in Four has adopted stringent auditing practices throughout the organisation and the charity has a policy of publishing in full its annual independent financial audit. One in Four, as part of this process will publish information in respect of donations that it receives, whilst respecting the right to confidentiality and privacy of individual donors.
