‘Trafficked girl put into care’

A17-year-old girl who gardai  believe was trafficked into Ireland to work in the sex industry was put into the care of the Health Service Executive yesterday.

The Nigerian girl, who was arrested during a raid on a suspected brothel in Kilkenny city last month, is charged with failing to produce a valid passport or other form of identification.

A judge yesterday made an order allowing her to be placed in care after hearing that a valid birth cert had been obtained.
