Convicted paedophile Gary Glitter is considering moving to Ireland because he believes he will be left alone by the media here.
Glitter (64) has been in hiding since his return to England two weeks ago after serving three years in a Vietnam prison for molesting two young girls aged 10 and 11. He also served two months in 1997 for downloading child pornography.
His proposed move has prompted calls for the Government to tighten up the law on sex offenders. The Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) said anybody with a conviction for abusing children was not required to attend treatment facilities or stay away from minors.
