Employment opportunities at One In Four Ireland


In the coming months One In Four will open its Irish office. Based in Dublin the office will offer a range of support and services to people who have experienced sexual abuse. In next few weeks we hope to receive confirmation of funding for the service. Our first task will be to recruit staff for the Dublin office. Below are brief details of the positions we will need to recruit. If you feel that any position is of special interest to you, you can register your interest by sending us your cv now.

Therapy Coordinator

The Therapy Coordinator will be responsible for the Therapy programme at One In Four and will be responsible for the recruitment, training and supervision of therapists. She/he will also be responsible for the management of the therapy programme and the assessment of clients and will manage the waiting list and allocate therapists to clients.

The Therapy coordinator will line manage all therapeutic staff and will also provide one to one supervision and support to other staff. This post would be best suited to an accredited counsellor with extensive experience in client work and supervision. Some line management experience would also be beneficial.

Advocacy Worker

The Advocacy worker will implement and deliver the advocacy programme at One In Four. They will be responsible for liaising with outside agencies, outreach work and the recruitment and training of volunteer advocates. The post will also require the recruitment and training of volunteers. Experience of social/advocacy work will be essential, experience of training and staff management is highly desirable.

Office Manager

The Office Manager will be responsible for day-to-day office administration. S/he will manage the office, coordinate diaries and manage office supplies and systems. S/he will be responsible for line managing the receptionist/Pa and some volunteers. Experience of office administration will be essential, some accountancy/book keeping skills would be very desirable.


The Receptionist will be responsible for general reception work, meeting and greeting clients and some admin duties. S/he will act as a PA to the Director and carry out general admin support work as required.


Staff counsellors will be responsible for the provision of both one to one and group therapy. They will be responsible for record keeping and ongoing development of the therapy service. Counsellors must be qualified to accreditation standards. Staff counselors must have achieved accreditation. Experience of working with people who have experienced sexual abuse is essential. One In Four will also employ counsellors on a sessional basis. Sessional counselors need not be accredited but must be qualified to accreditation standards. All sessional counselors will be encouraged to work towards accreditation.


One In Four will need volunteer workers in a variety of roles. Advocacy, helpline, administration and general volunteers will be essential if we are to meet the needs of people seeking to access our services. Volunteers will receive expenses, training and support.

I know it's early days for 1 in 4 but have you any plans for outreach offices in the provinces?

Yes thats definitely part of the plan. We like to regional and local support gropus and that will be a priority for next year. Keep in touch and let us know if you are interested in being part of that.

Our group in Galway welcomes the opening of a counselling centre by One in Four in Dublin. MASC has been supporting men in this much neglected area of counselling for two years and looks forward to meeting with you and discussing areas of challenge to ensure that men have ready access to help as a right.

i would like to volunteer any help i can bring to the service as i have experienced abuse from cork if thers any service down these parts.
i feel i could help with people who hav been abused-advice and direction etc.
