The man accused of the murders of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has been declared fit to stand trial.
Former school caretaker Ian Huntley appeared in Peterborough Crown Court today and shook as the decision to pass him mentally fit to stand trial was read out to him.
The decision was made based on the conclusions of a report by Dr Christopher Clark, a consultant forensic psychologist who assessed Huntley at Rampton high security hospital in Nottinghamshire.
Dr Clark concluded that Huntley was not suffering from any major mental illness and that there was no evidence of the presence of a significant mood disorder.
Huntley was remanded in custody and will now await trial in prison, as opposed to Rampton hospitalPosted by Colm at October 08, 2002 01:24 PM
