Bishop denies knowledge of abuse claim

From RTE News Online

The Bishop of Raphoe, Dr Philip Boyce, has said he was not made aware in 1995 of child sexual allegations against Fr Eugene Greene, who was jailed three years later for abusing 26 altar boys.

Tonight's BBC Spotlight programme says the Bishop was told in 1995 about a number of general allegations against the priest in Annagry, County Donegal.

However, Dr Boyce says he was unable to identify any complaint of child sexual abuse against him there or in his previous parish.

He says he was first made aware of a child sexual abuse allegation against Fr Greene in 1998 by the Gardaí.

You have others to relate to I wish I did. The person who abused my sister and I is one of the big wigs in the United Nations. Our army comes out in full force to greet him when he arrives in the country. He even gives lectures in accident management. I have noone to talk to and my taxes pay for his comfort when he comes to this country.
