From RTE News Online

Justice Minister Michael McDowell today met representatives of the Catholic Bishops conference, at their request, to discuss plans for an investigation into child sex abuse.

The Church was represented by Archbishop Sean Brady, Bishop Bill Murphy and Bishop Eamon Walsh.

A spokesman for the Minister said he welcomed the opportunity to discuss matters relating to his plans for an investigation into the handling of clerical sex abuse cases, which he hopes to bring before Cabinet in the near future.
