Donation FAQ's

Privacy and Confidentiality: In most cases it will be necessary for One In Four to gather information about individuals or organisations when they make a online donation/standing order or contribute in some way. We take handling/holding personal information very seriously within the organisation and have hence created this privacy statement to demonstrate our commitment to keeping such information confidential and explain what we as an organisation do with it. We also make it absolutely clear and give people the choice whether they wish to be informed in the future of the work we do (e.g be informed of our work and be contacted after making a donation). In relation to online donations we suggest you read the Worldpay Privacy Statement also.

Is making an online donation secure? Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for anyone making an donation online. In reality an online transaction made in this way is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone or by fax, as the information transmitted online is highly encrypted using complicated logarithm. Furthermore, the public web servers that Worldpay use are certified by Thawte, a public Certificate Authority, ensuring that both you and One In Four can have confidence that nobody can impersonate WorldPay to obtain confidential information

Online Transaction Encryption: The transfer of the purchase details from One In Four website to Worldpay are encapsulated using our own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol. This uses a combination of standard methods such as PGP, RSA and MD5 to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof.

Online Security for the Shopper: Any communication between the giver and WorldPay is also encrypted to the maximum strength supported by the giver's browser using TLS or 128 Bit SSL. The giver is also protected from fraudulent use of their card in a "card not present" environment, by their card issuers. The card issuers provides the right for the giver to dispute a transaction if the if the card was used fraudulently

Data Storage: Data storage on WorldPay systems, and the communication between WorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure a secure transaction environment. They also ensure that they stay up-to-date with the latest versions of any third-party code they use, and continually review their own proprietary code

Data Protection act: One in Four holds information on those who have donated to us in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and for accounting purposes. We intend to adhere to any other relevant future legislation in this area. Under this legislation, members can obtain a copy of all information which One in Four has in relation to them. Members wishing to obtain such information should contact us at [email protected]. More information on your rights can be found in our privacy statement.

Change your mind/ want a refund? You have the right to cancel your donation within seven days of making it. Please call the office or alternatively email us at [email protected] with your identifying details such as card number, name and the amount you want the refund for.

How to cancel your order or request a refund: Once we have received your request you will have your payment returned as quickly as possible. We will follow this up with an email or a telephone call (whichever you prefer). We would however ask that if you do not receive confirmation of your refund after seven working days then you call the office. This refund statement complies with current EU regulations

Holding Personal Information Duration: As stated above, donation/purchase information shall be retained by One In Four for the duration necessary to satisfy accounting purposes. Separate to this if you have agreed (as part of the online donation process/otherwise) to be sent e-mail/newsletter updates about One in Four then we will hold information on you for an indefinite period. Under The Data Protection Act your agreement to this may be terminated and your personal information may be  viewed/amended anythime, at your request. All you need to do is contact us at [email protected] or by telephoning the office during normal working hours.
