Festen by Thomas Vinterberg and Mogens Rukow, adapted by BO hr. Hansen. Presented by Teatr Rozmaitosci, Warsaw
Director: H (Gregorz Jarzyna)
Designer: Magorzata Szczesniak
Lighting: Piotr Pawlik

A family gathering to celebrate the patriarch’s birthday is turned on its head as this extended family struggles to protect itself from its own secret. The fragility of deceit is laid bare as the human cost of untold truths is revealed. With strong echoes of Hitchcock and Chekhov, this beautiful, almost classical production is a study into the lasting effects that events in childhood can have.

Regarded as the most cutting edge theatre in Poland, Teatr Rozmaitosci’s production of Festen, is an adaptation of the famous film by Thomas Vinterberg. Directed by charismatic young director, Grzegorz Jarzyna, under the pseudonym H, this production is a shocking evocation of a society entangled in a web of lies.
