Doctor nabbed for sexual abuse

By Ruby P. Silubrico - Sun.Star News

A DERMATOLOGIST was arrested Wednesday for sexually molesting two minors in his clinic at Quezon St, City Proper.

Dr. Mario Apple Layson was surprised when members of Police Precinct 1 (PP1) and Iloilo City Police Office Intelligence Office arrested him around 2 p.m. while he was in his clinic.

The police, who pretended to be his patients, entered his office and presented a warrant of arrest for two counts of abuse issued by Judge Lolita Contreras-Besana of RTC Branch 32.   Layson is now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The first complainant is Luis (not his real name), 15, and reportedly a former helper of Layson. He said that on February 12, 2002, while he was inside Layson's clinic, the doctor urged him to sniff shabu.  When Luis was already high on drugs, he alleged that Layson performed oral sex on him, and later on, anal sex. He said Layson paid him P100.   A drug test conducted on Luis a day after the incident showed him positive of drugs.

The second complainant is Harold, 17, and a friend of Luis. He had the same complaint as that of Luis's that took place on November 2002 when he went to Layson's office.  Harold said that another incident happened January 2003 and he was given P200 by Layson.   Harold also tested positive of drugs.   Layson violated section 5, article 2 of RA 9165 or Sniffing Sabu and Section 5 paragraph B, article 3 of RA 7610 or the Child Abuse Law.
