He was speaking at a public dialogue organised by the Uganda Federation of Women Lawyers, (Fida) under the theme "Child Sexual Abuse, A challenge," on Wednesday.

Mason said the camps were congested, with limited sources of funds for upkeep

"This prompts girls and women to look for opportunities to generate money thus making them more vulnerable to sexual violence in favour of money and gifts," he said.

"A study by the International Migration reported that 13% of girls migrating are involuntarily engaged in sexual activities and 7% are exposed to sexual threats," mason said. He said many cases of attempted rape had been reported.
