The Power of One

Innocent child trustingly taking his hand,

The hand that will abuse,

The hand that will take her trust and use.

A child alone in a world of darkness,

Where life is not as it seems,

Where she blanks it out but can't control her dreams.

A child who is confused,

Can't understand why she feels so bad,

Can't comprehend why she feels so terribly sad.

A child that stays frozen as the body grows,

Keeps the adult in her prison,

Keeps her body as a source of derision.

An adult who is insecure,

Lives a life of constant fear,

Lives in a world where no one can get near.

An adult who will have to fight,

Just to keep her life in place,

Just to survive in the human race.
